Hospital Offers RX Program for Uninsured Patients
Len's Drug, located at 120 E. Main Street, is partnering with Blue Mountain Hospital to help this program reach as many eligible uninsured patients as possible.
Patients will be evaluated at the time of their doctor's appointment to determine their eligibility for the program. If they are 340B eligible, they will receive a 340B card from Blue Mountain Hospital , and they will need to fill their prescriptions at Len's Drug to receive the lower prices. Prescriptions filled at other pharmacies will not be eligible due to program requirements. For more information about eligibility requirements, please ask the receptionist at the time of your appointment.
Local pharmacy partners are critical to the success of a 340B Program such as the one at Blue Mountain Hospital, and they are proud to have this relationship with Len's Drug, an important part of Grant County since 1967.
Derek Daly, CEO for Blue Mountain Hospital District, stated: "We are excited to move forward with our participation in the 340B Program and increase the access to affordable prescription drugs in Grant County. As a small, rural hospital, we are able to secure discounts on eligible outpatient prescriptions, and pass this savings along to those without prescription insurance through collaboration with Len's Drug. While this will not benefit all of our patients, it will have a meaningful impact on eligible patients that we serve."
Blue Mountain Hospital hopes Grant County residents will be excited about this new opportunity. For more information about the 340B program, please ask the receptionist at the time of the appointment or visit the website at www.bluemountainhospital.org.
2016 National Diabetes Prevention Program
In January, we began offering the 2016 National Diabetes Prevention Program. This program is led by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). It is an evidence-based lifestyle change program for preventing type 2 diabetes.
In this year-long program, participants are assisted with making lifestyle changes such as eating healthier, incorporating physical activity into their daily lives and improving problem-solving and coping skills. Participants meet with a trained lifestyle coach and in small groups to help facilitate these changes.
According to the CDC, this program can help people with pre-diabetes and those at risk for type 2 diabetes make achievable and realistic lifestyle changes and cut their risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 58 percent.
Individuals must be referred by their physician and may be eligible for enrollment based on the following eligibility criteria:
-18 years or older
-Diagnosis of prediabetes or GDM, OR score 9 or higher on the CDC's Prediabetes Screening Test
We will be offering this program yearly, starting every January. For more information, talk with you primary care physician to see if you are eligible for enrollment. You may also contact Kim Jacobs, registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator at (541) 575-1311 or firstname.lastname@example.org
